Broder & Valjas close pool play with a win

Jamie Broder and Kristina Valjas wrapped up their Rio 2016 beach volleyball pool play with a victory.

On Thursday, the Canadian duo easily beat Doaa Elghobashy and Nada Meawad from Egypt 2-0 (21-12, 21-16).

This was their second victory at Copacabana Beach. In their opening match, the duo defeated the Italians Marta Menegatti and Laura Giombini2-1.

The match between Germany and Italy, at 8 p.m. (ET), will define the final Pool D standing.

If Germany wins, Broder/Valjas will be in sole possession of the 2nd place of the group and will advance to the round of 16 matches. In case Italy beats Germany, the Canadian team will be in a three-way tie for first.
