Biography

Darcy Marquardt is a three-time Olympian who, after two fourth place finishes at Athens 2004 (coxless pair) and Beijing 2008 (coxed eight), finally reached the podium as a member of the women’s eight that won silver at London 2012.

In 2006 Marquardt won world championship gold in the coxless pair with stroke Jane Rumball. She won back-to-back world championship silvers with the women’s coxed eight in 2010 and 2011 heading towards London 2012 and also has two more world championship medals from 2002 (silver in coxless four) and 2003 (bronze in coxed eight).

Graduating from the University of Victoria with a major in French and a minor in Psychology, Marquardt learned to row as a first-year university student. After the 2008 Olympic Games, she took a consulting job with a financial firm in Vancouver and in early 2010 returned to training with the national rowing team.
