Biography

Megan Lukan is a crossover athlete who had a four-year NCAA basketball career at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay after redshirting her first season. Lukan first began playing rugby in high school at Barrie Central, following in the footsteps of her older sister. Lukan was named Miss Basketball Canada in 2010 and played for the National Elite Development Academy in grade 11. She was a member of Ontario’s U17 team that won bronze at the 2009 Canada Games. After graduating from UW-Green Bay in 2015, Lukan returned to rugby when assistant coach Sandro Fiorino reached out, having watched her during her high school career. She joined the Rugby Canada setup in April and went on to play for Canada’s Maple Leafs in Amsterdam the next month, scoring two tries in the process. She made her second Maple Leafs appearance in October at the Central Coast Sevens. Lukan made her Sevens Series debut for Canada at the 2015 Dubai Sevens in December. Lukan appeared in all five series events for Canada during the 2015-16 season, one of only five players to do so. She finished the season with two tries.
