As is usual at the Olympic Games, soccer will be held in stadiums all around Brazil, in addition to Maracanã Stadium.


Itaquera Arena

Located in Brazil’s largest city of São Paulo, about 450km west of Rio, this new venue with seating capacity of 48,000 was constructed for the 2014 FIFA World Cup when it staged six games.


Mineirão

Located in Belo Horizonte, about 450km north of Rio, it was built in 1965 but refurbished for the 2014 FIFA World Cup when it staged six games. It has a seating capacity of 69,900.


Mané Garrincha Stadium

Located in the Brazilian capital of Brasília, about 1200km north of Rio in the country’s interior, it was built in 1974 and fully renovated for the 2014 FIFA World Cup when it staged seven games. It seats 76,000 spectators.


Fonte Nova Arena

Located in Salvador, about 1600km north of Rio on the Atlantic coast, it was built in 1951 and refurbished for the 2014 FIFA World Cup when it staged six games. It seats 50,000 spectators.


Amazônia Arena

Built in the city of Manaus for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the stadium with its design inspired by the Amazon rainforest that surrounds it staged four games. It has a seating capacity of 45,597.
