On Day 3, Canada continued to dominate the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, earning 2 Gold medals and 1 Silver medal. Canada currently sits alone in 1st place in the Overall Medal Standings with 3 Gold, 3 Silver, and 1 Bronze. Four-time Olympic medalist Speed Skater Charles Hamelin won Gold in 1,500-metre Short Track to start today’s medals awarded to Canada. Girlfriend and fellow Olympian Marianne St-Gelais duplicates the ‘famous kiss’ given to Charles when he won Gold in Vancouver 2010 games.
Canada continued to dominate the Slopestyle Skiing Events in Sochi with Alexandre Bilodeau awarded Gold and Mikaël Kingsbury the Silver in Men’s Moguls. Alexandre Bilodeau has made Canadian Olympic history by being the first Canadian to repeat Gold since speed skater Catriona Le May Doan in 1998 and 2002. Teammate and 3-time World Champion Mikaël Kingsbury came in a close 2nd place awarding him the Silver medal.
The Women’s Hockey Team continued their dominance by beating Team Finland 3-0, while the Men’s Hockey Team arrived in Sochi and took in their first practice on the Russian ice surface. Team Brad Jacobs and Team Jennifer Jones both won their first Curling matches against Germany and China, respectively.
