Weekend Watch: Athletes chase World Cup medals
Humphries, Appiah, Thibault and Lotholz became the first all-women bobsleigh team to compete in a four-man World Cup race on Jan. 9, 2016, in Lake Placid, N.Y.
Winter break is officially over, which leads to a packed schedule for Team Canada fans.
Get comfortable and clear your schedules, here’s whats happening this weekend.
Tennis – Hobart International final, Australia

On Friday Eugenie Bouchard will play in her first WTA final since September 2014. The Canadian will go up against Alize Cornet of France for the title at 10 p.m. ET.

Bobsleigh and Skelton – BMW IBSF World Cup, Park City

On Friday Canada’s women bobsleigh and four-man crew will look to get back on the podium after an impressive showing in Lake Placid. Skeleton will kick off Saturday’s competition with the women at 11:00 a.m. ET, followed by the men and a second four-man competition in the evening. Kaillie Humphries‘ historic all-women crew will also compete this weekend.
Track Cycling – final World Cup, Hong Kong

Riders will head into the final phase of Rio2016 qualification at a World Cup in Hong Kong with the women’s team pursuit squad as a strong contender for gold. Several of the fourteen athletes competing in the two-day competition are likely to qualify for the Olympic Games.
FIS Alpine World Cup & FIS Ski Cross World Cup

There’s a lot of action this weekend for Canadian ski fans with athletes competing in Italy, Switzerland and Austria. The ski cross team will look to get back on the podium after taking a competition break for training camp. A full list of athletes competing this weekend can be found here.
Swimming – Arena Pro Series, Austin
On the second stop of the series Santo Condorelli will go head-to-head with the world’s most decorated Olympic medallist Michael Phelps in the 100m freestyle prelims on Friday, then compete in the 50m freestyle on Saturday.
FIS Cross Country World Cup – Planica, Slovenia
Team Canada will start the competition with men’s and women’s sprint on Saturday, followed by team sprint events on Sunday.
FIL Luge World Cup – Oberhof, Germany

Will Luge Canada make its World Cup podium debut this season? After a tough weekend in Sigulda, the Canadians will hope to bring their passion and speed from the World Cup stop in Calgary to the ice tracks on January 16 and 17.
IBU World Cup Biathlon 5 – Ruhpolding, Germany

Olympian Nathan Smith will lead Team Canada in the men’s mass start on Saturday 9:55am ET.

FINA Diving Grand Prix – Madrid, Spain

During the first competition of the Diving Grand Prix Caely McKay and Peter Mai will compete in the 3 metre springboard, while Olivia Chamandy and Ethan Pitman will dive off the 10m platform.
Judo – African Open, Tunisia
David Ancor will represent the nation in men’s 73kg on Saturday.
