Kingsbury dominates as Canada wins Nations Cup in Moscow

Mikael Kingsbury and Chloé Dufour-Lapointe won Crystal Globes, as Canadians scored three medals and the Nations Cup, at the final FIS World Cup event in Moscow, Russia on Saturday.
Kingsbury, who won 12 of his 16 last World Cup races, has dominated the men’s moguls competition this season. The Canadian defeated France’s Benjamin Cavet to win gold in dual moguls, increasing his record for most World Cup wins to 33. Philippe Marquis also earned a spot on the podium, after beating Jeremey Cota of the United States to take bronze.

Kingsbury won his fifth consecutive Crystal Globe title by more than 300 points, after having a sizeable lead in the World Cup rankings throughout the season. The Canadian won five World Cup titles, had two second place finishes and only missed the podium once.

On the women’s side Andi Naude won her second World Cup medal of the season, her first came after she finished third in a podium sweep with Chloé and Justine Dufour-Lapointe. The Canadian finished between winner Perrine Laffont of France and Hedvig Wessel of Norway to win silver in dual moguls.

Chloé, who was knocked out by Naude in Saturday’s dual moguls competition, brought home the women’s Crystal Globe. Chloé and her sister Justine battled for the top spot throughout the season, before the Sochi 2014 champion settled for second.

The Canadian moguls team had an incredible season with back to back gold medals, podium sweeps and victories on home soil. The 2015-16 season marked the first time Canada won both the male and female Crystal Globes. With five of the top nine mogulists in the women’s rankings and two of the top four men wearing the maple leaf, it’s no surprise the Canadians won the Nations Cup, awarded to the country with the most World Cup points.
Next up, the Canadians will prepare for the Canadian Mogul Championships in Chelsea, Quebec from March 12-13.
