About Olympic Education

The Olympic philosophy of education is about a balance of intellectual instruction, cultural development and physical education. Olympic Education is based on the concept, Olympism, which blends sport with culture and education. Through values-based learning, participants are encouraged to experience life values such as excellence, respect and friendship, while developing a balanced body and mind.

With the vision of inspiring the next generation of Canadians through the legacy of Team Canada and the Olympic Games, the Canadian Olympic Committee is known as a leader in Olympic Education offering free, world-class programs such as The Canadian Olympic School Program (COSP) and the Team Canada Olympic Day Grant.

The Canadian Olympic School Program

The COSP offers over 100 free, online resources designed to inspire and challenge students to integrate the Olympic Spirit in their daily lives. Applicable to all grade levels, from elementary to high school, the COSP resources are pedagogically sound, written by teachers, for an effortless implementation in all learning and sport environments.

Team Canada Olympic Day Grant

In celebration of Olympic Day, recognized annually by the IOC on June 23, Team Canada launched the Team Canada Olympic Day Grant for Canadian schools with the goal of empowering students to play and stay in sport.

The Team Canada Olympic Day Grant provides funding to increase access to sport in schools while also giving athletes the opportunity to inspire students through their stories
