Dustin Cook

Biography

Dustin Cook stunned the alpine skiing world in February 2015 when he won super-G silver at the world championships in Beaver Creek, Colorado – which happens to be his favourite place to race. He had yet to stand on a World Cup podium but a near-perfect run left him just 0.11 of a second behind gold medallist Hannes Reichelt of Austria. Cook proved he was no flash in the pan when he followed up about a month later with his first World Cup podium, finishing third in the Kvitfjell super-G. Nine days later, he claimed his first World Cup victory, also in the super-G, in Meribel. Those results made Cook the eighth member of the Canadian Cowboys club.

But he was unable to build on that momentum when he fell in training a couple of days before the first race of the 2015-16 season, tearing the ACL and MCL in his right knee. He underwent surgery in November followed by eight months of rehab before he could get back on snow at the end of June. Having missed that entire season, Cook returned to the World Cup circuit in the fall of 2016, posting a top result of sixth place in the Val Gardena super-G in December. He opened the 2017-18 World Cup season with an 11^th place finish in the Lake Louise super-G. Cook has been competing on the World Cup circuit since the fall of 2010 and made his world championship debut in 2013. In his Olympic debut at PyeongChang 2018, Cook had the top result of the Canadian men’s alpine skiing team with his ninth-place finish in the super-G.
