Jared Connaughton

Jared Connaughton made his second consecutive appearance at an Olympic Games in 2012 and finished 17th in the 200m event. He was also part of the 4x100m relay team with Justyn Warner, Oluseyi Smith, and Gavin Smellie. The group finished in bronze-medal position, but was later disqualified due to a lane violation.

Connaughton competed in Beijing in 2008 and finished sixth in the 4x100m relay, and was a semifinalist in the 200m.

The native of Prince Edward Island is a three-time senior World Championship team member, a 2007 Pan American Games 4x100m relay silver medallist and a two-time time 2005 Canada Games champion (100m, 200m) – making him P.E.I’s first-ever double gold medallist.

Connaughton won the 2008 Canadian title in the 200m in 20.34 seconds setting a championship record (previous record of 20.40 seconds was set in 1986 by Atlee Mahorn).
