Shawn Hill

Biography

Shawn Hill was part of Canada’s first ever Olympic baseball team at Athens 2004. The team finished fourth after losing to Japan in the bronze medal game. He went on to help Canada win gold at the 2011 Pan Am Games in Guadalajara, where he posted a 2-0 record with a 3.60 ERA. He also helped Canada win bronze at the 2011 Baseball World Cup. In 2012, he and the rest of the Pan Am Games team were inducted to the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame. He represented Canada once more at the 2013 World Baseball Classic. Hill had been selected by the Montreal Expos in the 6^th round of the 2000 MLB Draft and made his MLB debut with the club in 2004, shortly before the Olympic Games. He missed all of 2005 after undergoing Tommy John surgery, a procedure he underwent a second time in 2009 while with the San Diego Padres. Hill made his last major league appearance with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2012, making him one of four Canadians to play for both the Jays and Expos. Hill is currently playing with the York Revolution of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.
