CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

• Represented Canada at both the 1979 and 1983 Pan American Games, winning a gold medal in the team épée event during his second appearance
• Team captain and helped Canada achieve a best-ever fourth-place finish in team épée at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles
• Also member of the 1980 Canadian Olympic Team
• Assistant Chef de Mission for Canada at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro
• A multiple national and Quebec champion
• 10-year national team member
• He had as fencing mentor and tutor Edoardo Mangiarotti of Italy and Bela Rerich of Sweden

PERSONAL HIGHLIGHTS

• Born in Chile-Chico (Patagonia), Chile, he resides in Montreal
• Married to Constanza Oriani, an Argentinean fencing medallist at the Caracas 1983 Pan Am Games (and 1984 Olympian), and father of two sons
• After retiring from high-performance sport in 1985 and following a 10-year career with the national team, he continued his involvement in fencing and Canadian sport, working as a coach, team leader and high performance director with the Canadian Fencing Federation
• In his various roles, Jacques has helped lead the Canadian fencing team at several major international events including the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, the 1995 Pan American Games in Mar del Plata, and the 1991 and 1997 World Championships
• In June 2006, named to the Canadian Fencing Federation Board of Directors
• President of the Quebec Fencing Federation
• Founder and first president of the Quebec Athletes Association
• Member of the organizing committee for the Fencing World Cup in Montreal since the early 1990s
• Works at the Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf in Montreal in student services and as the fencing épée coach
• Studied Industrial Design at the Universite de Montreal and at Scuola Politecnica di Milano
