COC Supports "2010 and Beyond" Panel Announcement

The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) congratulates the Minister of State (Sport) Gary Lunn, for his announcement earlier today on the creation of a panel that will provide recommendations on post-2010 high performance sport in Canada.

“It is thanks to initiatives like this one, and to support from Minister Lunn and the Government of Canada, that our country can strive to take its rightful place amongst the sporting powers of the world,” said Michael Chambers, COC President. “We look forward to participating in this initiative and to helping create the tools that will allow Canada’s athletes to fulfill their dreams of success on the world stage.”

“2010 is set to be an extraordinary year in Canadian sport, and we welcome this initiative in building on the momentum and energy created by the Vancouver Olympic Winter Games,” said Chris Rudge, CEO and Secretary General, COC.

“Minister Lunn has assembled a knowledgeable panel of individuals whose experience and insight will ensure we carry forward the innovations and positive momentum, from programs like Own The Podium, that we are currently witnessing in Canadian high performance sport.”
