Valerie McMurty named CEO of Canadian Olympic Foundation

TORONTO – A veteran in charitable fundraising with a proven track-record of success will take the helm at the Canadian Olympic Foundation starting in April, the Canadian Olympic Committee announced today as it named Valerie McMurtry the Foundation’s new Chief Executive.
“I’m very excited to be joining the team working on behalf of Canada’s Olympic Heroes. ” McMurtry said. “The Canadian Olympic Foundation will lead the way in funding our current and future Canadian athletes so that they can excel at the most competitive international levels, and pursue their Olympic dreams. “Valerie McMurtry is a leader among Canadian fundraisers,” said Marcel Aubut, President of the Canadian Olympic Committee. “She has an outstanding record of achievement in philanthropic and private donor fundraising initiatives and will make a wonderful addition to the Foundation.”
McMurtry is currently the President and CEO of the Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation and has more than two decades of experience working with some of Canada’s leading charities and not-for-profit organizations, including Mount Sinai Hospital Foundation, the Alzheimer Society of Canada, and Queen’s University.
She has launched two exceptionally successful multi-million dollar fundraising campaigns in support of rehabilitation for children with disabilities, in the process securing the largest individual gift in Canadian history ($26.2M) to childhood disability.
