Eric Lamaze refreshed and riding strong on new horses
Lamaze is currently working with two horses he co-owns with Artisan Farms.
On September 5th and riding ‘Power Play’, the 45 year-old managed a second place finish in the $125,000 CANA Cup event behind France’s Pénélope Leprevost on ‘Dame Blanche Van Arenberg’ but ahead of Britain’s Ben Maher on ‘Cella’.
A few days later on September 7th at the $125,000 SUNCOR ENERGY Cup it was mount ‘Quelmec Du Gery’ carrying Lamaze to second place, this time bettered by American Kent Farrington riding ‘Blue Angel’. Canadian Olympic medallist Ian Millar was third on the back of ‘Star Power’.
The Olympic champion collected $74,250 over four individual events. He also had a pair of 8th place finishes in both the AKITA Drilling Cup and CN International.
The Schomberg, Ontario resident took some time off after London 2012 to recover from an Olympic year.
So far in 2013 he has slowly worked his way back into the fold, competing well at the Spruce Meadows Summer Series here in Canada and in The Netherlands (Valkenswaard) on the Longines Global Champions Tour.
Lamaze is showing great patience working with two new horses and with his personal Olympic champion pedigree it shouldn’t be too long until the top of the podium is within reach.
