Humphries & Moyse golden in St. Moritz
The reigning Olympic champions – who will be in Sochi to defend their title – posted a total time of 2 minutes and 16.96 seconds, then waited and watched nine sleds fail to beat their ultimately victorious slide.
Humphries praised Moyse of Summerside, Prince Edward Island, saying she “pushed amazing today” and that her confidence was key for the Calgary, Alberta native to “drive the very best run I could and it was good enough for today.”
The Canadian sled was 0.40 seconds behind the first run leaders Fabienne Meyer and Tanja Mayer of Switzerland. They finished with a bronze medal. Germans Cathleen Martini and Christin Senkel were second.
Humphries & Moyse shed 0.66 seconds over their first run of 1:08.81 to take World Cup gold at the birthplace of bobsleigh.
