Carter & Doughty complete Olympic gold-Stanley Cup double
Olympians Jeff Carter and Drew Doughty joined an exclusive club on Friday night when they completed the Olympic gold-Stanley Cup double in the same year.
Only six other players have ever achieved the feat, including Carter and Doughty’s Sochi 2014 teammates Duncan Keith and Jonathan Toews. Canadian Olympic champions Brent Seabrook, Brendan Shanahan, Steve Yzerman and one American, Ken Morrow complete the list.
Carter and Doughty were instrumental in leading the Los Angeles Kings to their second Stanley Cup in three years on Friday night. Finishing a remarkable year, Carter scored 10 goals and 25 points in the NHL Playoffs; Doughty added five goals and 18 points.
Doughty led Canada in scoring at Sochi with four goals and six points. Carter added a hattrick against Austria before Canadian men won their ninth Olympic gold medal.
