Nestor and Inglot win doubles title in Nottingham

Partnering with Dominic Inglot of Great Britain, Canada’s Daniel Nestor won his latest doubles tennis title, this one coming at Nottingham Open in England.

Nestor and Inglot beat Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo 7-5, 7-6 (4) on Saturday. Dodig from Croatia and Brazil’s Melo staved off two match points in the second set to force the tiebreak, where the Canadian and his British partner finally put the contest to rest.

For Nestor, 43, it’s his first time winning in Nottingham, having previously made the doubles final there in 1998 with fellow Canadian and Sydney 2000 Olympic gold medallist Sebastien Lareau.

It’s the 89th time Nestor has won a men’s doubles trophy and according to a Tennis Canada tweet, it is the 23rd consecutive year that he has lifted a title in the ATP tour.

Nestor had made the Australian Open men’s doubles final earlier this season with Radek Stepanek. This year the Canadian also hit the 1,000 win mark for his storied career.
