Pavan & Bansley beat compatriots Broder & Valjas, advance to the quarterfinals
On Saturday, two Canadian women’s teams went head to head in the round of 16 matches of the Rio 2016 beach volleyball tournament.
Sarah Pavan and Heather Bansley defeated the fellow Canadians Jamie Broder and Kristina Valjas 2-0 (21-16, 21-11) and secured a spot in the quarterfinals.
With the result, Broder and Valjas were eliminated from the Rio 2016 beach tournament with a 9th place finish.
Pavan and Bansley will meet Germany’s Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst in Sunday’s quarterfinals at 3 p.m. (ET).
Also on Saturday, Ben Saxton and Chaim Schalk will face Alexander Brouwer and Robert Meeuwsen from Netherlands in the round of 16, at 6 p.m. (ET).
