International competitions coming to Canada this winter
We are on the cusp of the winter competition season, and Canadian fans will once again get to see their favourite athletes in action on home soil.
Here is the list of World Cup and World Championships competitions to be held in Canada during the 2016-17 season.

Skate Canada International | Mississauga, Ontario

The Grand Prix of Figure Skating series will conduct its second of six stops in the Toronto area in late October. World champions Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford as well as 2010 Olympic champions Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir will join three-time world champion Patrick Chan in Mississauga to compete with the world’s elite. ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating | Calgary, Alberta
November 4-6, 2016
Charles Hamelin, Marianne St-Gelais, Samuel Girard and the rest of the Canadian short track team will have the home-ice advantage for their first World Cup of the season. FIS Ski World Cup | Lake Louise, Alberta

The fastest racers in the world will kick-off the season in the heart of the Canadian Rockies at the Lake Louise FIS World Cup in Banff National Park. This is the only World Cup stop outside of Europe this season. For details on the competition or to attend, click here.
IBSF World Cup Bobsleigh & Skeleton | Whistler, British Columbia

Catch one of the fastest sports on ice! Double Olympic gold medalist bobsledder Kaillie Humphries will hit the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games track on the first stop of the IBSF World Cup circuit. IIHF World Junior Championship | Montréal, Québec & Toronto, Ontario

FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup | Val St Côme, Québec

Chloe, Justine, and Maxime Dufour-Lapointe will attempt to repeat their podium sweep at the World Cup in Val St. Come for a second consecutive year. ISU World Sprint Speed Skating Championship | Calgary, Alberta
February 25-26, 2017
The leading long track speed skaters will head to Calgary for one of three World Championships of the season. During the sprint World Championships, each participant must take part in the 500m and 1000m events. The time on these distances are then translated using the samalog system to calculate points and rank the participants. The competitor with the highest number of points will be crowned the champion. FIS Ski Cross World Cup | Blue Mountain, Ontario
March 3-4, 2017
This Ski Cross World Cup event will return to Blue Mountain Ski Center in March 2017. It will be the last World Cup stop of the season, which means the prestigious Crystal Globes will be awarded to the skiers who have accumulated the most points to finish atop the men’s and women’s rankings. World Men’s Curling Championship | Edmonton, Alberta
April 1-9, 2017
Canada’s curling masters will have the chance to defend their championship title at home when Edmonton, Alberta hosts the World Men’s Curling Championships.
