FINA Worlds: Pickrem sets Canadian record with 200m breaststroke bronze
Sydney Pickrem won bronze in the women’s 200m breaststroke on Friday morning, claiming her second individual medal of at this year’s FINA World Championships.
This podium finish makes Pickrem the first Canadian woman ever to win three individual medals at the World Championships.
She won her first-ever medal in 2017, a bronze in the women’s 400m medley. Her second was won earlier in the week when she finished third in the women’s 200m medley.

Pickrem’s medal is Canada’s sixth swimming medal of the World Aquatics Championships, tying the record set in 1978.

Ahead of Pickrem on the podium were defending champion Yuliya Efimova of Russia (2:20.17), and South African Tatjana Schoenmaker (2:22.52).
Canadian Kelsey Wog finished in sixth place.
