- Selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 22nd round in the 1998 MLB First Year Player Draft, but did not sign
- Selected by the Atlanta Braves in the third round in the 2001 MLB First Year Player Draft and was named the Atlanta Braves AA 2004 Player of the Year
- Career highlight was playing in the 2006 World Baseball Classic in what is his best performance on the international stage, when he went six-for-nine with a double, triple, homer and five RBIs in three games, including a win over Team USA
