Andy Anderson
Biography
Andy Anderson has made a name for himself in the park event with his unique style and deep bag of tricks. While still competing as an amateur, he finished fifth and then fourth at the Zumiez Best Foot Forward Vancouver in 2015 and 2016. He came 11th at the 2017 Vans Park Series Americas Continental Championships and added another top-10 finish in park at the Jackalope Festival later that year.
In 2018, Anderson narrowly missed out on his first podium at The Boardr Am in New York, coming fourth in the park competition. He competed in both street and park at the Mystic Sk8 Cup, making the finals in the latter. He finished sixth at both the Continental Championships and the Nitro World Games. He added a fifth-place finish at the Jackalope Festival before making his World Championships debut where he finished 21st in the semifinals.
Anderson signed with Powell-Peralta in 2019 and began his pro career by making the semifinal at the Vans Park Series Pro Tour China and the quarterfinal in his Street League debut in London. He competed in both street and park at the Dew Tour Long Beach, making the quarterfinals in park. He improved his results at the Mystic Sk8 Cup from the year prior, finishing fifth in park and 16th in street. He also competed in both disciplines at the World Championships, making the park quarterfinals. He finished his year with a pair of park events, finishing 14th at the ANOC World Beach Games and 24th at the World Skate OI STU Open
In 2020 Anderson won the Canadian park title while placing 10th in street. At the final event to count towards Tokyo 2020 qualification, the 2021 Dew Tour in Des Moines, he fell hard during a practice run before the park semifinals and tore his meniscus. Despite the injury, he landed a varial heelflip lien air and secured an 11th-place finish which moved into the top-30 of the world rankings for park, enough to earn him a ticket to skateboarding’s Olympic debut.
