Ben Street

Biography

Ben Street played at the 2004 World U-17 Hockey Challenge where he scored six points in as many games, taking home the silver medal with Canada Pacific. He took part in the 2021 Channel One Cup in preparation for Beijing 2022, finishing third with Canada. In his Olympic debut, Street recorded two goals and one assist. He ranked second in the tournament in faceoff percentage.

Street played junior hockey in the BCHL with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks. Undrafted by any NHL teams, he opted for the collegiate route and joined the University of Wisconsin. Street won the NCAA championship in his first year with the Badgers in 2005-06. He served as team captain in his senior seasons (red-shirting after four games 2008-09), finishing his time at Wisconsin in 2009-10 with Academic All-Big Ten honours.

Street signed a minor league contract with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in 2010 and went on to win the 2011 ECHL Rookie of the Year while playing for the Wheeling Nailers. He made his NHL debut in 2012-13 with Calgary, spending two seasons in the Flames’ organization. Street also skated for Colorado, Detroit, Anaheim, and New Jersey, totalling 59 games and nine points over seven seasons.

Street has spent most of his pro career in the AHL, serving as captain or assistant captain on five different teams. He won the 2017 Calder Cup while playing for the Grand Rapids Griffins. Street joined Germany’s EHC Red Bull Munchen in 2021-22, leading them to the 2022 Champions League semifinal before the pandemic postponed the tournament.
