Biography

• Has competed in the World Surf League since 2015, winning her first pro event in 2019
• 2018 Canadian Open and U18 national champion
• Two-time Canadian national shortboard champion
• Competed at her first World Surf Games in 2018, placing 11th in the open category
• Clinched a spot on Canada’s Lima 2019 team with a 10th place finish at the 2018 Pan Am Surf Games
• Won two state titles in high school

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT BETHANY

Getting into the Sport: Loved watching surfers at the beach near her house… Told her parents she wanted a surfboard at age 8 and learned to surf at age 10… Always wanted to be an Olympian and was inspired to be part of the Olympic team when she found out surfing was added to the program for Tokyo 2020… Volunteers with Soul Surf, giving surfing lessons to children of military parents…  Outside Interests: Skateboards at night when it is too dark out for her to surf… Makes earrings and necklaces… Enjoys reading, especially the Bible, and playing math games to exercise her mind… Odds and Ends: Collects shells from beaches where she surfs…
