Carol Zhao

Biography

Carol Zhao had a breakthrough season in 2013 when she reached a career high junior ranking of ninth in the world. She won the junior doubles title at the Australian Open with Croatian partner Ana Konjuh and the duo then reached the semifinals of the junior doubles at the French Open. In junior singles play in 2013, Zhao reached the round of 16 at the French Open, Wimbledon and US Open. She also qualified for the main draw at the Rogers Cup. Her results culminated in her being named Tennis Canada’s Female Junior Player of the Year. Zhao began playing collegiately at Stanford University in September 2013. As a freshman she was named an NCAA All-American and reached the round of 16 at the NCAA Singles Championship. Zhao has won nine Canadian national titles, including the U18 singles and doubles when she was just 15.
