Claire Wright

Biography

Claire Wright’s first international experience was at the 2011 Youth Pan American Championships where Canada won gold. Singing the anthem sparked her dream of representing the country at the highest level of her sport. She also won gold medals at the 2011 and 2013 Junior Pan Am Games and competed at the 2012 FINA World Youth Championships as well as the 2013 FINA World Junior Championships. 

Wright won a silver medal at the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto. She was an alternate for the 2019 Pan Am Games team which also won silver to secure Canada’s spot at Tokyo 2020. She competed at her first senior FINA World Championships in 2019. In 2021, she was part of Canada’s fourth-place finish at the FINA World League Super Final, the team’s first competition in more than 18 months because of the COVID-19 pandemic. She had previously won silver at the 2017 FINA World League Super Final. 

In her Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020, Wright was in goal for five of Canada’s seven matches as the team finished seventh.

Wright played collegiately at Loyola Marymount University.
