Biography

At London 2012 Erica Morningstar finished 17th in the 200m individual medley in her second appearance at an Olympic Games.

In 2011, she competed at the World Championships in Shanghai finishing in 12th place in the 200m IM.

The year prior, Morningstar’s performances at the Commonwealth Games and Pan Pacific Championships got her noticed with a top-10 finish in the 200m IM and a top-15 in the 100m freestyle.

During the 2009 World Championships in Rome, Morningstar swam on the 4x100m freestyle crew, which would finish 9th.

At her first Olympic Games in Beijing, Morningstar competed in four different events including the 100m freestyle and was part of Canadian-record teams for the 4x100m medley relay (7th place), 4x100m freestyle relay (8th), and 4x200m freestyle relay (10th).

At the 2007 World Aquatic Championships in Melbourne, Australia, Morningstar broke her own Canadian record in the 100m freestyle clocking and placed 5th.

Again in Australia, at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, she was part of the 4x100m freestyle relay team that collected a bronze medal and also set a national record.

In the summer of 2006, Morningstar competed at the Pan Pacific Championships in Victoria, BC where she once again broke her own national record in the 100m freestyle. She was also part of the national-record breaking 4x100m freestyle and 4x100m medley relay teams.
