France St-Louis
Biography
France St-Louis’ Olympic dream came true when she competed at the 1998 Winter Games in Nagano where women’s ice hockey was making its Olympic debut. She came home with a silver medal.
St-Louis had been a member of the Canadian women’s national team since its inception in 1990 and competed at the first five IIHF World Women’s Hockey Championships (1990, 1992, 1994, 1997, 1999), winning gold each time.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, St-Louis had been a teacher for more than 17 years prior to becoming an Olympian. She now teaches at the Cégep du Vieux-Montreal and is a technical consultant for the University of Montreal Carabins women’s hockey team. Since retiring from the national team at age 40, she has run her own hockey school. St-Louis is a recipient of numerous individual accolades, including the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women in Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS) Breakthrough Award. In June 2013 she was named Assistant Chef de Mission of the Canadian Olympic Team for Sochi 2014.
