Joliane Melançon made her Olympic Games debut in London 2012 and finished in 17th place in the women’s 57kg judo division.
Melançon is the 2011 Pan American Games bronze medallist in the 57 kg weight class and finished ninth at the 2009 World Championships.
She captured four consecutive bronze medals at the Pan American Championships from 2009 through to 2012. At the National Championships, she has won six consecutive titles (from 2007 through to 2012) and two consecutive bronze medals (2004 and 2005).
