Jordan Pierre-Gilles

Biography

Jordan Pierre-Gilles made his Olympic debut at Beijing 2022 where he was a member of the men’s 5000m relay team (alongside Pascal Dion, Steven Dubois, Charles Hamelin, and Maxime Laoun) that won the gold medal.

Pierre-Gilles represented Canada internationally for the first time at four World Cup stops during the 2019-20 season. He skated primarily in the 500m and 1000m but won his first World Cup medal with the mixed relay team that took bronze in Shanghai. He capped the season by winning gold with the men’s 5000m relay team at the World Cup finale in Dordrecht. 

The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic meant that Pierre-Gilles had to wait a year to make his debut at the ISU World Championships in 2021. It was the only international short track event that Canadians entered in what would have been the 2020-21 season. He competed with the men’s 5000m relay team that finished fifth. 

In August 2021, Pierre-Gilles finished third overall at the Canadian Short Track Championships and earned his way onto the World Cup team. He won three medals with the men’s 5000m relay in the fall of 2021, including gold medals in Nagoya and Debrecen, while competing individually in the 500m and 1000m. He won his first world championship medal in 2022, taking bronze with the 5000m relay in Montreal.
