Getting to know…
- Beavers had a disappointing year after the 2004 Olympic Games and considered retiring, but after turning to coaching, his love of the sport was rejuvenated
- First international competition was the 2002 Commonwealth Games
- Sister Lindsay, was also a national team swimmer

- Placed seventh in the 200 metre individual medley final at the 2008 Olympic Games
- 2007 Pan American Games bronze medallist in the 400 metre individual medley and posted a 200 metre IM personal best time 2:01.36
- One of Canada's brightest young stars in 2002 when he won the bronze medal and broke the Canadian record in the men's 200m backstroke at the Pan Pacific Championships in Yokohama, Japan
- Career highlight was at the U.S. Open when he upset double Olympic backstroke champion Lenny Krayzelburg (U.S.) for the gold in the 200 metre backstroke
