Kim Lamarre
Team Canada Medal Count
Biography
Kim Lamarre came back from multiple serious knee injuries to qualify for her first Olympic Winter Games in 2014. She went on to win the bronze medal in the first ever women’s Olympic slopestyle event, sharing the podium with Canadian teammate Dara Howell.
In 2009, Lamarre was invited to compete at the Winter X Games for the first time. After tearing her ACL, she returned to competition in 2011, winning bronze at the Winter X Games Europe and finishing fourth at the FIS World Championships. She was named to the inaugural national ski slopestyle team for 2011-12. But successive ACL tears cost her most of two seasons and she was left off the Canadian team for 2013-14. Undeterred by having to fund her own training and travel, she finished second at the Dew Tour in Breckenridge in December 2013 and won the bronze medal at the Winter X Games in Aspen in January 2014.
In April 2015 Lamarre finished third at the AFP (Association of Freeskiing Professionals) World Tour Finals. She had an unfortunate accident at the 2017 FIS World Championships, injuring herself when she fell in training, but still decided to compete. As a child, Lamarre was inspired by her grandmother Ginette Seguin who competed in alpine skiing at Cortina d’Ampezzo 1956 and would often wear her Olympic outfits around the house.
