Kyle Wiltjer

Biography

Kyle Wiltjer decided in high school that he wanted to play in the Olympic Games for Canada one day, just like his father Greg, who was part of the 1984 Olympic team that finished fourth. So he went about securing his Canadian passport. He first represented the maple leaf at the 2010 FIBA Americas U18 Championship where he was Canada’s second-leading scorer with 17.5 points per game as Canada won the bronze medal. Wiltjer played two seasons at the University of Kentucky, where as a freshman he won the 2012 NCAA National Championship with the Wildcats and as a sophomore was the SEC Sixth Man of the Year. For his junior year he transferred to Gonzaga University and was named to the team for the 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan, Russia where Canada finished fourth.
