Biography
In his Olympic debut at PyeongChang 2018, defenceman Marc-André Gragnani helped Team Canada win the bronze medal. In the leadup to PyeongChang 2018, Gragnani played for Team Canada at the Channel One Cup and Tournament of Nikolai Puchkov in 2017. He previously played for Team Canada at the 2005 World U18 Championship, winning the silver medal, as well as the 2011 World Championship where Canada finished fifth. Gragnani has played 78 NHL games for the Buffalo Sabres (2007-12), Vancouver Canucks (2011-12), Carolina Hurricanes (2012-13), and New Jersey Devils (2015-16). He spent more of his time in the AHL, playing with the Rochester Americans (2007-08), Portland Pirates (2008-11), Charlotte Checkers (2012-13) and Albany Devils (2015-16). He spent the 2013-14 season with Prague Lev of the KHL and the 2014-15 season with Bern SC of the Swiss League. In 2016-17 he joined the Minsk Dynamo of the KHL, spending two seasons with the club. Gragnani played his junior hockey with the QMJHL’s Prince Edward Island Rocket from 2003 to 2007. He was selected in the third round, 87th overall, by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
