Marc Kennedy
Team Canada Medal Count
Biography
Marc Kennedy was the second on the team skipped by Kevin Martin that went undefeated en route to Olympic gold at Vancouver 2010. He had played alongside Martin, third John Morris and lead Ben Hebert since the 2006-07 season. They won back-to-back Brier titles in 2008 and 2009, winning the world title in 2008 followed by world championship silver the next year.
After the 2013-14 season, Kennedy and Hebert joined forces with skip Kevin Koe and second Brent Laing, shifting Kennedy into the third position. After finishing fifth at the 2015 Brier, they won their first national title together in 2016, going on to win the world title. As Team Canada, they were the runners-up at the 2017 Brier to Team Gushue.
At the 2017 Canadian Curling Trials. Team Koe finished atop the round robin standings to earn the bye into the final, where they defeated Team Mike McEwen. At PyeongChang 2018, they posted a 6-3 record in the round robin to get into the playoffs. But after dropping the semifinal to Team USA, they also came up short against Switzerland in the bronze medal game, finishing fourth overall.
After his second Olympic appearance, Kennedy announced he was taking a break from competitive curling to allow some injuries to heal. He began working for Curling Canada as a national team program performance consultant. In December 2018, he filled in for Ryan Fry at third on Team Brad Jacobs at the Canada Cup and they ended up winning the tournament. In March 2019, they officially made the change to have Kennedy at third fulltime.
The new-look Team Jacobs won three straight Grand Slam events in 2019-20 and made it to the 3-4 page playoff game at the 2020 Brier.
After Team Jacobs lost to Team Brad Gushue in the final of the Canadian Curling Trials, Kennedy was selected to join Team Gushue as their fifth/alternate at Beijing 2022. His only on-ice appearance was at second for the second half of a round robin victory over the United States, but his off-ice contributions helped the team win the bronze medal.
