Melissa Tancredi

Biography

In her second Olympic appearance at London 2012, Melissa Tancredi was Canada’s second-leading scorer (behind only Christine Sinclair) with four goals. Following that historic bronze medal performance, she took two years away from the national team to complete her chiropractic degree. Upon her return, she reached a milestone in May 2015 when she played in her 100^th career match for Canada, just ahead of her third career FIFA Women’s World Cup. In early 2016, Tancredi scored three goals in the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifier as Canada won silver to secure the team a spot in Rio. She was then part of the squad that won the 2016 Algarve Cup. Tancredi first competed with the senior national team in 2004, scoring her first international goal at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio where Canada won bronze. Tancredi’s collegiate career at the University of Notre Dame was capped in 2004 when she co-captained the Fighting Irish to the NCAA national title and was named a First Team All-American for the second time.
