Rylan Wiens

Rylan Wiens had a breakout performance at the 2021 FINA World Cup in Tokyo where he won bronze in the 10m platform. That helped secure a second Olympic spot for Canada in the event, which Wiens then claimed for himself by finishing second at the national trials on Canada Day. In his Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020, Wiens just missed qualifying for the semifinal by one spot, finishing a tenth of a point back of 18th place.

Though he had competed in his first FINA Grand Prix event in 2017, Wiens had a big international season in 2018. He posted two top-eight finishes at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia and then competed at his first FINA World Cup. He closed the year by finishing fourth in the 10m platform at the FINA World Junior Championships in the 16-18 age group.

Wiens competed in his first FINA World Series events in 2019, joining the Canadian team in Beijing and Montreal. He earned his first senior international medal at the FINA Grand Prix in Madrid in February 2020, taking silver in the 10m platform.
