Scott Frandsen

Biography

Scott Frandsen is a three-time Olympian who competed at Athens 2004, Beijing 2008 and London 2012. In his last two appearances he teamed with David Calder in the coxless pair event, with the highlight being their silver medal performance in Beijing.

Frandsen made his Olympic debut as a member of the men’s eight in Athens that finished off the podium in fifth place. Moving into the pair, he and Calder captured Canada’s first medal of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games when they earned their silver medal. Frandsen then retired from rowing, only to return to the national team in 2011. Re-teamed with Calder, the pair went on to finish sixth in London.

During his career, Frandsen competed at six world championships where he advanced to two A Finals.

His collegiate career took him to the University of California, Berkeley where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and was also a three-time NCAA national champion (2000, 2001, 2002). In 2003, Frandsen attended graduate school at Oxford University and rowed for the Oxford Blues, winning the 2003 Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race by the closest-ever margin of one foot.
