Amelia Walsh
Biography
As a BMX racer, Amelia Walsh won the elite division at the Canadian Championships in 2013 and 2014. She competed on the elite UCI World Cup circuit beginning in 2012 and was a quarterfinalist at the UCI BMX World Championships in 2014. Walsh had the opportunity to compete in front of a home crowd at the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games, finishing 13th. After a series of injuries, including a big crash in 2016 that left her with two broken arms, a concussion, and ligament damage in her hand requiring surgery, she decided to give track cycling a try in November 2016. Just three months after making the transition to the velodrome, she landed on her first UCI World Cup podium, winning team sprint silver alongside Kate O’Brien in Los Angeles in February 2017. They went on to finish fifth at the 2017 World Championships. Walsh
