Austin Connelly

Biography

Austin Connelly made his PGA Tour event debut as an 18-year-old at the AT&T Byron Nelson in May 2015 where he was awarded one of the four Byron Nelson International Junior Golf Awards for 2015. Connelly came to the attention of Golf Canada men’s head coach Derek Ingram at the 2014 Jones Cup where he finished second to fellow Canadian Corey Conners in a playoff. Later in the year, he and Conners teamed up to give Canada its first Tailhade Cup victory by 19 strokes. Connelly captured the prestigious Jones Cup title in 2015, his first victory for Team Canada after finishing second at the 2014 Argentine Amateur. Following his fifth-place finish at the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games, Connelly chose to turn pro, playing on the Mackenzie Tour, Web.com Tour and European Tour, along with occasional PGA Tour events over the next four years. In 2017, he earned a final qualifying spot for The Open Championship and went on to finish tied for 14th at his first major. Connelly is a dual Canadian-American citizen who splits his time between Texas and Nova Scotia, where he spent a lot of his childhood summers with family.
