Biography

• Won Canada’s first ever international medals in surfing, gold in longboard and bronze in shortboard at the 2017 Pan Am Surf Games
• At the age of 14 won gold in longboard and bronze in shortboard at the 2017 Canadian Pan Am Surfing Trials
• First represented Canada internationally at the 2015 ISA World Junior Surfing Championships, placing 15th in the under 18 division when she was only 12 years old
• Joined the World Surf League in 2017 as a member of the Women’s Junior Tour, before being promoted to the Women’s Qualifying Series for the 2018 Season

Getting into the Sport: Started surfing recreationally at age 9 and competing at age 10…Loves being able to spend multiple hours per day in the ocean… Feels that the ocean is a place where she can be herself… Outside Interests: Avid photographer and sketch artist… Loves ballet, hiking, boating, and spending as much time out in the sun as possible … Works at a chocolate and ice cream store where everything is made in-house… Odds and Ends: Sister Sanoa is also a competitive surfer on the World Surf League Junior Tour … Favourite quotes: “What the mind can perceive, the heart can believe, the body can achieve” and “Don’t let the world change your smile let your smile change the world!”
