In his Olympic debut at PyeongChang 2018, defenceman Maxim Noreau helped Team Canada win the bronze medal. In the leadup to PyeongChang 2018, Noreau played for Team Canada in the Spengler Cup, Channel One Cup, Karjala Cup, and Sochi Hockey Open in 2017. He previously wore the maple leaf at the 2012 and 2016 Spengler Cups, winning gold both times. Noreau played his junior hockey with the QMJHL’s Victoriaville Tigres from 2004 to 2007. He signed as an undrafted free agent with the Minnesota Wild, for whom he would eventually play six games from 2009-10 to 2010-11. From 2007 to 2011, he spent most of his time with the Wild’s AHL affiliate, the Houston Aeros. In 2011-12, he joined Ambri-Piotta of the Swiss League, where he would spend three seasons. He returned to the AHL for the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons, suiting up for the Lake Erie Monsters and San Antonio Rampage. In 2016-17 he returned to the Swiss League where he played two seasons with Bern SC, helping them win the league championship in 2017.

Getting into the Sport: Started playing hockey at age four, as it was a family tradition and he wanted to get as good as his grandfather… Outside Interests: Enjoys reading nonfiction books, playing golf, and travelling… Odds and Ends: Younger brother Samuel is also a professional hockey player… Pursuing an online certificate program through Athabasca University… Considers his entire family as his inspiration, and tries to get as far as he can with his career so they can live it through his experiences…
