Biography
• Ten-time Canadian champion
• Reached the podium twice in 2018, winning silver at the Pan Am Open and bronze at the World Taekwondo President’s Cup for the Pan Am Region
• Had her first international multi-sport games experience representing Canada at the 2017 Universiade in Taiwan, where she placed 9th in the 73kg weight class
A LITTLE MORE ABOUT RACHEL
Getting into the Sport: Started taekwondo lessons at age 5 and began competing at age 6… Usually finds herself as one of the smallest competitors in her weight class, which she overcomes by incorporating a different fighting style… Outside Interests: Enjoys listening to music, watching movies and baking in her time away from training and competing… Odds and Ends: Favourite motto: “If you are undefeated you are fighting the wrong people”… Role model is her older brother Tyler for putting in the time and effort he dedicated to his dream of making the NHL (drafted 23rd overall in 2008, now playing professionally in Europe)…
